Me Beyond Civil Engineer

I was fascinated with the camera and newspaper current affairs from a very young age. The Box Camera with my father which is used to take 8 pictures in one roll of 120mm film brought me to the world photography gradually kept elevating the camera I went on to own a DSLR 30 years later.

I was in 10^th standard when I photographed my first crocodile at RanganaThittu Birds Sanctuary. Biology teacher in pre-university told me these animals have not changed over millions of years and I started follow them seriously.

In my early days I was hesitating to say I follow crocodiles by photographing but as the National Geographic magazine and TV channel became available in India I realised I am not an odd man out.

ConCroc?

My inclination for the newspapers and current affairs brought to me to quizzing probably the days of a notional prize. As I went on to graduation, I developed a taste for hosting quiz competitions mainly for academic institutions.

It was during 2007 to 2012 as an employee of M/s UltraTech Cement Ltd., I got involved UltraTech Stimulus the Civil Engineering Quiz and got associated rquizmaster pickbrain Giri Balasubramaniam and his company. In this course I had don the hat of quiz master. Being civil engineer hosting a Civil Engineering Quiz brought spotlight on me as quiz master.

The stint brought me the nick name ConCroc, coined from ‘CONcrete and CROCdiles’. The name these days I am referred to as especially in student community.

Why ConCroc.in

I have been associated with several institutions for skill enablement and sharing practical knowledge to younger generation as an individual and the representative of my former employers. The job requirement and travel on duty had limitation on how much I involve.

Post my retirement I thought to reach out to more people - especially to the student community and young professionals who are starting their careers in communicating with them on practical civil engineering, personality issues and skill enabling or skill enhancement.
ConCroc.in will be a platform to propagate my activities – I can also take up requests on Civil Engineering, Construction & areas of my expertise. I know Mr. Nagesh for close to a decade and the common passion for quizzing and coffee got me to know him better.

While many know the civil engineer in him, what some know is that is an excellent photographer who has shot many celebrities from Yanni to Dr. Kalam. Infact, on seeing some of the photographs by him the former president’s office requested him for a CD with his photos and when Dr. Kalam came next to Bangalore he specially signed a photograph taken by Nagesh.

An interesting incident that recall about him is when we were at an airport and a youngster walked up to us and asked him ”You are a Quiz Master right”. That reflected on his popularity as quizmaster.
